As we age, our skin naturally produces less collagen and elastin, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity. If you’re looking for a non-surgical way to lift and tighten your skin without needles, incisions, or significant downtime, Sofwave® may be an excellent option.

What is Sofwave?
Sofwave is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive ultrasound treatment designed to improve fine lines, wrinkles, and mild to moderate skin laxity. It can also lift the eyebrows, tighten the tissue beneath the chin and neck, improve the appearance of acne scars, and reduce cellulite in certain treatment areas. Unlike more invasive procedures, Sofwave works beneath the skin’s surface without damaging the outer layer, making it safe for all skin types with little to no downtime.
How Does Sofwave Work?
Sofwave uses Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam (SUPERB™) technology to deliver ultrasound energy at a precise depth of approximately 1.5 mm within the mid-dermis, where collagen production occurs. The controlled heat creates tiny thermal injury zones while leaving the surface of the skin intact.
This controlled injury triggers the body’s natural wound-healing response, stimulating the production of new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. Over the following weeks and months, the skin becomes firmer, smoother, and more lifted as new collagen remodels the treated tissue.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
Sofwave can be used to treat:
● Face
● Jawline
● Neck
● Under the chin (submental area)
● Eyebrows
● Fine lines and wrinkles
● Acne scars
● Cellulite (FDA-cleared indication)
What to Expect During Treatment
Most treatments take 30–45 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Before treatment, a topical numbing cream is typically applied to improve comfort. During the procedure, you may feel brief pulses of heat as the ultrasound energy is delivered. The device also features an integrated cooling system to help protect the skin and improve patient comfort.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
To help achieve the best possible results:
● Arrive with clean skin free of makeup, sunscreen, or lotions.
● Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning for at least one week before treatment.
● Let your provider know if you have any active skin infections, open wounds, or cold sores in the treatment area.
● Discuss all medications, supplements, and your medical history with your provider before treatment.
● Stay well hydrated before your appointment.
Post-Treatment Care
One of the biggest advantages of Sofwave is that there is very little recovery required.
After treatment:
● Resume normal daily activities immediately.
● Continue gentle skincare for the first 24 hours.
● Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day.
● Stay hydrated to support collagen production.
● Avoid excessive heat (hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms) and intense exercise for the remainder of the day if your skin feels warm or sensitive.
● Follow any individualized instructions provided by your healthcare provider.
Is There Any Downtime?
Sofwave has little to no downtime. Most patients experience mild redness or slight swelling immediately after treatment, which typically resolves within a few hours. Because the epidermis remains intact, patients can usually return to work and normal activities the same day. Clinical studies have demonstrated minimal post-procedure downtime with a favorable safety profile.
When Will I See Results?
Some patients notice subtle improvement within a few weeks, but collagen remodeling takes time. Most people begin seeing visible improvements around 6–8 weeks, with optimal results developing between 10–12 weeks after treatment. Improvements may continue for several months as new collagen continues to form.
Who is a Good Candidate?
Sofwave is ideal for patients who:
● Have mild to moderate skin laxity
● Want to improve fine lines and wrinkles
● Want a more defined jawline or tighter neck
● Prefer a non-surgical treatment with minimal downtime
● Want preventative collagen stimulation before more significant aging develops
Patients with severe skin laxity or significant excess skin may achieve better results with surgical intervention.
