FAQs
Intense Pulsed Light treatments utilize a broad spectrum of multiple light wavelengths, whereas a laser delivers a single wavelength. When applied to your skin, safe and effective IPL technology can dramatically improve red and brown pigmentation problems. This treatment excels at surface color correction.
When the light hits the skin, the red blood vessels interact with the light energy and absorb it. Then, the blood vessels close off. This process can dramatically improve the appearance of surface redness.
Melanin is the brown pigment in your skin. When the IPL treatment is aimed at brown spots, the melanin absorbs the energy. For the first few days after treatment, the spots appear darker as they come to the surface of the skin. Then, they crust and flake off.
IPL treatments work best on light skin tones because there is a higher contrast between the pigmentation concerns and the rest of the complexion than with darker skin tones. IPL devices pick up on pigmentation differences, so they require a certain level of contrast.
